Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inspires Ambar Foundation to bring miraculous change in thousands of lives
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to address the public on Saturday 16th Sept at 3 pm at JBP Garden, near Chowk Stadium, Lucknow

The young student complains of headaches whenever he sits to study. Parents as well as teachers thinking that he is making excuses, scold him, but the headache continues, whenever the young student sits to study. Even if the poor parents of this young student get to know that his headache is due to weak eyesight, getting spectacles made is a big expense for them.

An elderly man in old Lucknow sits on a chikankari adda the whole day using fine needles to work out the intricate designs. Water flows from his eyes, which he regularly wipes, and then resumes his work. At the end of the day, he will be getting 150 to 200 rupees. He doesn’t know that the years of strain that he has exerted while working deftly with the needle had its toll on his eyesight. Even if he would have known, getting a spectacle made would have cost enormously. For innumerable families from poor and low-income backgrounds in Lucknow and nearby areas, Ambar Foundation’s founder Wafa Abbas is seen as a messiah, who has transformed their lives. After free eye checks of innumerable children, it came to light that they needed spectacles; the Ambar Foundation provided the spectacles too free. Now these children can concentrate better on their studies. For those people from low-income colonies whose eyesight was weak, a new spectacle changed their lives for the better; at times their earnings increased up to 20 percent.

Ambar Foundation’s mission is to get 25000 free eye check-ups done, arrange for 3000 eye operations, and take care of school tuition fees of 1000 students in a year. This entire amount is being taken care of by Wafa Abbas, too through his hard-earned money.

Wafa Abbas’s motivation is none but the Union Minister for Defence and Lok Sabha MP from Lucknow, Rajnath Singh. Says Wafa Abbas of Ambar Foundation: “When we met Hon’ble Rajnath Singh ji, he gave us a lot of encouragement. He asked us to give direction to whatever social work and charity we were doing. Don’t just restrict yourself to the distribution of free ration and other commodities but do work that has long-lasting results. If one person’s life changes the city as well as the country will move forward.”

Wafa Abbas made it his mission to put to execution Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s inspirational words. After much consultation, it came to light that there are innumerable people around whose income would increase more than 20 percent if their eyesight became better. Due to weak eyesight, several people’s lives had become full of misery. These people had fallen into a well of misery from which it was hard to escape. Poor were becoming further poorer.

Wafa Abbas made it his mission to strengthen the sight of the poor people who had weak eyesight. From time to time, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asked him about the progress of the work and gave his valuable suggestions. The lives of the people started changing because either their income had increased or the children were now able to concentrate better on their studies.

Wafa Abbas got more deeply immersed in the mission as more and more people started benefitting from this noble venture. He says: We got more deeply involved when we saw the change happening in the lives of the people and this mission went on becoming bigger and bigger.”

To give more pace to this mission, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be coming to an event “Drishti se ujjawal bhavishya tak” on Saturday 16th September at 3 pm at JPB Garden near Chowk Stadium, Lucknow. In this program, Smt. Sushma Kharkwal (Mayor Lucknow), Mukesh Sharma (Member Vidhan Parishad), and Neeraj Bora (MLA from Lucknow) will grace the dais besides a few other prominent people. Several senior social workers will be felicitated for their work by the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

Says Wafa Abbas of Ambar Foundation: Taking inspiration from Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s kind words and due to our tireless efforts, all the projects like free eye-checkups, spectacle distribution and operation, free education to children from needy families, Collector Bitiya IAS PCS coaching program are moving ahead in mission mode and new families are benefitting from this very next day.”
